Web Desk: Pakistan’s security forces shot down three drones in the city of Kohat after militants attempted to launch a drone-based attack, according to security sources. The incident caused alarm among residents as loud explosions were heard in different parts of the city.
Officials said the armed forces used electromagnetic technology to disable and bring down the drones. The devices were reportedly operated by militants linked to Afghan Fitna al Khawarij, but security personnel intercepted them before they could cause significant damage.
Despite the successful interception, debris from the destroyed drones fell onto nearby areas and injured three civilians. Rescue teams quickly transported the injured individuals to hospitals for treatment.
Health authorities in Peshawar declared an emergency in hospitals to ensure immediate medical care was available for those affected.
Earlier, residents had reported seeing drones flying over Kohat, including one spotted near Kachehri Chowk. Shortly afterward, police and other security agencies placed the city on high alert.
Security officials stated that Pakistani forces remain vigilant against terrorist threats from groups operating across the border. Authorities also warned that any attack in Pakistan traced back to Afghanistan would trigger a strong response, including action against militant sanctuaries and support networks.
Investigations into the incident are ongoing, while authorities continue to monitor the situation to maintain public safety.
